ADHD nurse and prescriber jobs in the UK

The short answer

ADHD prescriber roles in the UK go to non-medical prescribers — usually mental health nurses or pharmacists holding a V300 or equivalent independent prescribing qualification — who run titration and medication review clinics, often remotely, alongside or instead of diagnostic assessment.

Typical UK ranges

LevelRange
Band 6 to 7 equivalent£38,000–£50,000
Senior / lead prescriber£50,000–£68,000
Sessional prescribing£60–£110 per hour

What the work actually involves

Titration is the bulk of it: starting medication, reviewing response and side effects, adjusting dose, and documenting decisions to a standard that a GP will accept for shared care.

Shared care handover is the pressure point. Prescribers who write clear, GP-ready letters keep patients moving off the provider's caseload, which is why providers value the skill so highly.

Qualifications employers ask for

Current NMC or GPhC registration, an independent prescribing qualification, and experience with stimulant and non-stimulant ADHD medication in adults or in children and young people — services recruit for one or the other, rarely both.

Adult and children's prescribing are not interchangeable: paediatric titration carries growth and cardiovascular monitoring requirements that adult clinics do not.
